A positive legacy
At Bridge Civil Engineering, sustainability is embedded in the way we plan, manage, and deliver our projects. We are committed to reducing environmental impact, using resources responsibly, and creating infrastructure that benefits both communities and future generations.
Through efficient working practices, responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and a strong focus on environmental stewardship, we strive to deliver sustainable solutions without compromising on quality, safety, or performance. Our goal is to leave a positive legacy through every project we undertake.

RACE TO ZERO PLEDGE.
We are proud to be FNZ Accredited for the seventh consecutive year, demonstrating our commitment to independently verified carbon management, transparent reporting and continual improvement.
Through ongoing investment, monitoring, and operational improvement, we continue to reduce our carbon intensity while maintaining a clear roadmap towards Net Zero by 2050.
Carbon Plan
Reducing carbon starts with the decisions made before work begins. Our ambition is to consider carbon alongside safety, quality and programme requirements, looking for practical opportunities to reduce environmental impact throughout a project's delivery.
Areas for consideration include material choices, transport, plant use and site energy. By working with clients and suppliers, we aim to identify suitable lower-carbon options, reduce avoidable journeys and use resources efficiently, while maintaining the standards each project requires.
Clear information and regular review can help turn these intentions into informed decisions and guide the next steps in our carbon reduction journey.
SMARTWASTE/SMARTSCAN
Our investment in SmartWaste and SmartScan technology provides greater visibility of material usage, waste management, supplier compliance and carbon performance across our projects. By capturing accurate, real-time data, our teams can identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve recycling rates, enhance resource efficiency and support carbon reduction objectives. The result is a more informed, sustainable approach to project delivery, backed by robust reporting and environmental compliance
CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RESOURCE EFFICIENCY
We focus on reducing waste and improving efficiency across all operations by making better use of materials, plant, and energy — supported by better data, smarter planning, and practical changes on site.
These measures support a more efficient, lower-impact approach to delivering civil engineering works, while continuing to improve visibility across our operations and supply chain.
BACK TO NATURE – ENVIRONMENT & BIODIVERSITY
We work to minimise environmental impact and protect surrounding ecosystems on every project — ensuring that construction is carefully balanced with the natural environment.
Our approach ensures that projects are delivered responsibly, protecting and enhancing the natural environment wherever we work.

RESPONSIBLE DELIVERY
Sustainability is embedded in how we plan and deliver our work, driving practical changes across our fleet, sites, and day-to-day operations.
While challenges remain, particularly around fleet emissions, we continue to take practical steps to reduce our impact, supported by investment in technology, data, and more efficient operations.

Looking Forward
We’ve already made significant progress — but this is just the start.
As technology evolves and new solutions become viable, we’ll keep pushing forward, finding better ways to reduce impact without compromising delivery.
Delivering smarter, cleaner infrastructure isn’t a future ambition for us — it’s already part of how we work today.
Social Value
At Bridge Civil Engineering, we believe a project's value doesn't stop at the site boundary. Alongside every scheme we deliver, we're investing in our people, our local community, and the wider civil engineering industry.
In January 2026, we brought the entire workforce together for a dedicated Social Value training day, working with facilitator Keely Pierce and CECA South West to define what social value means to us and set the priorities that now guide everything below. It isn't a policy on a shelf — it's a set of commitments chosen by our own people, and one we're held to by them.
Investing in Our People
Our workforce is our biggest asset, and looking after them goes beyond the day job. Twice a year we hold a company-wide shutdown day, stepping away from site to focus on the team itself — from open, honest conversations about mental health and wellbeing to building a culture where people feel comfortable sharing their own stories. We've heard first-hand how much strength that openness brings to our business, and we're committed to keeping that conversation going.
Supporting Our Community
Bridge Civil Engineering is based in Chudleigh, Devon, and giving back to the town we call home matters to us. In 2026, we were honoured to receive the Community Business of the Year award from Chudleigh Town Council, recognising a year that included:
Building Better Spaces for Children
Some of our proudest work supports the schools and children in our region. We provided design input, drainage engineering and planning guidance to help Hennock Community Primary School and its PTA secure planning permission — within Dartmoor National Park — for new outdoor play and learning facilities, including a lean-to shelter over the EYFS area, a bespoke bridge play structure and a wind sail, alongside resolving long-standing drainage issues on site with a new attenuation tank.
We were also proud to support the BBC's DIY SOS team on a home renovation build, working alongside a huge team of trades and suppliers to transform a family's home within an incredibly tight timeframe — a powerful reminder of what the construction industry can achieve when everyone pulls together for a good cause.
A Voice in Our Industry
We're active members of the wider social value conversation in civil engineering, working with organisations like CECA South West to understand how our industry can do more for the communities it builds in — and we bring what we learn straight back to our own team and our own commitments.
